Client 1 – Retail Restaurant Chain

Problem: Client’s touchscreen computers had stability issues with original motherboards from the manufacturer. The motherboard problems resulted in the unit freezing, overheating and intermittently powering off.

Solution/Implementation: Contacted the manufacturer for BIOS update to be installed on existing motherboards. Currently, all units serviced at Gremark receive BIOS update before return.

Result: Improved end-user satisfaction, reduced model returns and failure rate.

Client 2 – Healthcare IT Company

Problem: Client’s software could not boot into portrait mode after a new image was flashed on the model.

Solution/Implementation: It was determined by technicians at GTI that the original firmware on the video board from the manufacturer wasn’t compatible with the customer’s specifications. After R & D, GTI was able to change all video boards to meet customer specs.

Result: All units are programmed with a custom firmware solution that boots into the original hardware. GTI developed a cost effective solution to use Client’s original hardware.

Client 3 – OEM Component Defect

Problem: Software could not boot into portrait mode after a new image was flashed on the model.

Solution/Implementation: It was determined by technicians at GTI that the original firmware on the video board from the manufacturer wasn’t compatible with the customer’s specifications. After R & D, GTI was able to change all video boards to meet customer specs.

Result: All units are programmed with a custom firmware solution that boots into the original hardware. GTI developed a cost effective solution to use Vecna’s original hardware.

Client 4 – International Pharmaceutical Company

Problem: Replacement video boards from the manufacturer had non-working DVI ports due to incomplete firmware programming.

Solution/Implementation: GTI pulled firmware data from the existing video boards to reprogram the new hardware. Currently, custom firmware is installed on all new video boards.

Result: The video boards repaired by GTI technicians are now used to successfully repair units. Walgreen’s Co. experienced reduced turn times and lower overhead pricing. Also, no additional parts were required from the manufacturer.

Client 5 – OEM Logic Board Failure

Problem: Received inventory of logic boards programmed to the wrong specifications. The keyboard POS systems were rendered non-functional and unavailable for consumer sales.

Solution/Implementation: Reprogrammed the bad stock of logic boards to the required specifications; included flashing new software on existing repairs.

Result: Reprogrammed stock of logic boards are now converted to available inventory. ZF/Cherry experienced an increase in refurbished keyboard POS systems from additional repairs.

Client 6 – Nationwide Emergency Alert Corporation

Problem: When Microsoft ended support for Windows XP, Client 6 needed to upgrade its software to Windows 7 for security reasons.

Solution/Implementation: A new hard drive image/program was developed, complete with Windows 7 for the customer. With the new hard-drive procedure, GTI technicians are able to clone images on several units at once and finalize settings after initial boot, instead of loading software one unit at a time.

Result: The process to update software is streamlined. Customer’s security is also better protected with the new operating system.

Client 7 – IT / Software Solution Provider

Problem: The motherboards to support Client 7 units were obsolete from the manufacturer. Available parts inventory was insufficient to honor contractual repairs on existing customer units.

Solution/Implementation: GTI repaired defective/obsolete motherboards at the component level. Complete motherboard refurbishment meets OEM specs and consists of replacing Intel SMT chips, capacitors, resistors and diodes.

Result: 80% yield of repaired boards. Successful in reducing client costs, extending product shelf life and improving customer relations.
